TREKKING FLAMA ETERNA (ETERNAL FLAME) - CARANÇÀ - CANIGÓ.

CANIGÓ. Mythical mountain of Catalan culture. Symbol of the language of this stateless nation. Union of a people divided by the vicissitudes of history, people from the north and south of the mountain range, with a common language, customs and culture. Mythical, mystical, ancestral mountain. It culminates in the 2,784 meters of Pica del Canigó, this is the last massif more than two thousand meters high before the Pyrenees decline towards the waters of the Mediterranean Sea. Mount of dragons, fables, fairies, kings. The Romans and the Phoenicians thought that it was the highest mountain in the Pyrenees as it was the most significant watchtower seen from the sea. (Like Mount Viso in the Alps).

We present you a 5-day trekking for Northern or French Catalonia. From the spectacular gorges of Carançà, passing through the easternmost lakes of the range and ending in the mountain of the flame of the Catalan language, in the mountain of the Eternal Flame.

During the journey we will also visit places of great historical and scenic interest, such as the source of the river Ter, the monastery of Sant Martí del Canigó or the medieval city of Vilafranca de Conflent. We will also get to know one of the most interesting tourist attractions in the area, the famous Groc Train (Yellow Train).
