TERRA INCOGNITA is a new circular route of refuges and high mountain hotels that runs through inhospitable areas of Alt Urgell and Pallars Sobirà. Specifically around the Saloria massif and the valleys of Castellbó and Santa Magdalena, making the same peak of the Pico de Saloria, 2,789 meters high, the county ceiling.
The name of Tierra Incognita comes from the fact that we are moving through one of the most unknown and wild parts of the Pyrenees, with a wealth of flora and fauna unmatched in the mountains. We crown a good number of summits of more than 2,000 meters that almost certainly have not risen and surely, from which you have not even heard. We are in the most unknown and unfamiliar area of our Pyrenees.
The route Very varied, it combines high mountain landscapes, wild and with broad horizons, with villages and borders lost in the vast expanses of the Pallars, with key scenarios of historical memory in the battle of the Pallars (Spanish Civil War of 1938), as is the Baladredo forest.
We are surrounded by enormous Valle de Santa Magdalena, a dwelling place in the wildest of the High Pyrenees, where we will find among others, deer, holly, bearded vulture and the brown bear. Santa Magdalena surely is the largest valley of the Pyrenees without a place to town (only they are already in the lowest part of the Valley: Montenartró and Romadriu), in fact all the passage goes around the valley by its perimeter. It must be said that the design of the route has been carried out under the cautious management of the natural park management and have been avoided - by making precise roadmaps -, the passage through areas of special interest for the conservation of wildlife and wildlife .
Filled with colors, sensations and memories, this "white zone" of the Pyrenees. Come discover the last Incognito Earth in the heart of old Europe.
